Heart Attacks

A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a section of heart muscle becomes blocked. If the flow of blood isn’t restored quickly, the section of heart muscle becomes damaged from lack of oxygen and begins to die. This is fatal in most cases but if it is treated soon enough, the patient has a chance to live. Heart attacks can happen at any time and mostly without warning. They can be caused by emotional stress or pain or drug abuse. It is very rare to have a heart attack victim that is under the age of 50. The likeliness of suffering from a heart attack increases with age. It is a very hard condition for heart attack survivors and their families to deal with. It just so happens that one of my teachers at my school passed away recently, most likely because of a heart attack. My heart goes out to his family during this hard time. This shows how unexpected these attacks can be. He was not very old and he had no previous heart problems. It is hard but we can only hope that one day we will have a cure or a way to prevent these from happening.
